Fuerza de San Pedro (Fort San Pedro) is a military defence structure, built by Spanish and indigenous Cebuano labourers under the command of Spanish conquistador, Miguel López de Legazpi and the Spanish Government in Cebu. It is located in the area now called Plaza Indepedencia, in the Pier Area of Cebu City, Philippines.

The smallest, oldest triangular bastion fort in the country was built in 1738 to repel Muslim raiders. In turn, it served as a stronghold for Filipino revolutionaries near the end of the 19th entury. This served as the nucleus of the first Spanish settlement in the Philippines.

The fort is triangular in shape, with two sides facing the sea and the third side fronting the land. The two sides facing the sea were defended with artillery and the front with a strong palisade made of wood. The three bastions were named La Concepción (SW); Ignacio de Loyola (SE), and San Miguel (NE). It has a total inside area of 2,025 square metres (21,800 sq ft). The walls are 20 feet (6.1 m) high, 8 feet (2.4 m) thick and the towers are 30 feet (9.1 m) high from the ground level. The circumference is 1,248 feet (380 m). The sides are of unequal lengths and the one fronting the city is where one may find entry into the Fort. Fourteen cannons were mounted in their emplacements most of which are still there today. Work first started on May 8, 1565 with Miguel Lopéz de Legazpi breaking ground.

Enjoying the scenic view at the peak together with my best ever buddy my husband...

From Osmeña Peak traversing to Kawasan Falls is the most adventure part for mountaineers. Kawasan Falls is another place of Cebu and is part of Municipality of Badian. Patience, heat from the sun, slippery and risky is the actual package in order to conquer your trip. Rainy season is not good to traverse down to Kawasan Falls as it goes slippery up and down hills. It is best to bring enough foods on your travel from camp site and across to Kawasan destination.

Sea Turtle Lagoon Resort - Tabogon, Cebu, Philippines

I guess everyone needs leisure time to let themselves unwind and even perhaps take some time to put aside worries, exhaust, hates, responsibilities and other facts. This current blog post is an experience of our unexpected visit to Sea Turtle Lagoon Resort, located at Camoboan, Tabogon, Cebu.

It was 2nd quarter this year (2012) as we were excited few days before our visit to Tabogon, thinking what will be an appropriate baptism gift for a newly born baby of a common friend (my husbands workmate) for that coming Sunday. Then came Saturday, and we opted of buying one for our presents. Thinking might be awkward if we don't bring such as gift(s). So, we had bought a sort of toy for toddler. Then came Sunday, and we left our house (at Mandaue City, Cebu) in early dawn around 4:00am so that we could be able to catch up with the 5:00am (or earlier) bus departure. Then finally able to ride a bus at around 5:00am beyond, heading to Northern part of Cebu in the Municipality of Tabogon. The travel took us to an approximately between 2-3hours.

At the Tabogon proper, travelers who wish to visit the said resort, still have to ride a motorcycle for hire (locals call it as Habal-habal) and hail anyone of them and ask to drop you off to the resort destination. I guess travel time takes about 20minutes or less.

Then, we had our first itinerary that morning by witnessing the baptism until it's done and proceeded to their house to ate lunch while the celebration also is being held. After a while, the couple was planning that they wants us to make a tour to an amazing resort, glad that they had a vehicle to reach the destination in convenience (It can also reached by Habal-habal). It took us around 15minutes travel reaching this destination - Sea Turtle Lagoon Resort. Glad that the couple had able to toured us their place and introduced the resort.

Bunch of flowers can be seen around the resort that really gives compliment of the resort.

An overlooking view of the ocean while staying at the Kiosk/cottage.

The fishermen has captured big fish and was hailing (at the shore) at some staff /and the owner of the resort.
His selling his (caught) fish for about 800.00Php.

For those who loves diving, this spot can be suit for you...

Just having a remembrance...

Rooms available in the resort, price about 2,000.00Php.

My first impression while at the gate of the resort was not really appraising. It was shameful to me when I got inside and discover the amazing serene resort, it's Sea Turtle Lagoon. It's primary location is situated in distant place from going North Highway road of Cebu Province.

It was with great privilege having visited the place in an unexpected. The resort is highly recommended for newly wed couples who wants their honeymoon spent in a serene resort, this is somehow perfect.

The P2-million project, which was funded by the Department of Tourism (DOT), is a sculptural tableau that encapsulates Cebu ’s history through renowned historical figures such as Rajah Humabon, Jose Rizal and Pedro Calungsod. Conceptualized by multi-awarded sculptor Eduardo Castrillo, the mammoth structure depicts significant moments in Cebu’s history beginning with that fateful fight of April 21, 1521 in the island of Mactan where native chieftain Lapu-Lapu killed Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan.

The monument was purposely situated in Parian to highlight the area’s important role in the country’s history. Parian, which is near Colon St. , the oldest street in the Philippines, was the old Chinese district of Cebu. It was a bustling community where the locals, the Chinese and Spanish mestizos engaged in commerce and trade. Some of Cebu ’s prominent names such as Osmeñas, Avilas, Uy-Herreras and Cuencos trace their roots to Parian, which was once an enclave of wealthy families.

This was taken last May 2012 on our family vacation to my mother's homeland and rather it's our homeland too as my parent's were now living there for good. Silab Amlan, Negros Oriental is somewhere far from main road  and civilization, travel time takes about 30minutes to Silab proper via "Habal-habal" motorcycle for hire.

How To Get There? If you live somewhere in neighboring islands and provinces, Going to Negros Oriental (Silab, Amlan) can be reached by Airplane - their airport terminal is located in Dumaguete City (The capital city of Negros Oriental); Ceres bus; motorcycle; private vehicle... there are pedicabs and motorcycle for hire available at the nearest place.

Amlan municipality is comprised by 8 barangays namely: Bio-os, Jantianon, Jugno, Mag-abo, Poblacion, Silab, Tambojangin and Tandayag. I don't have much knowledge or travel experience about the neighboring barangays of Silab. But, they are somewhat familiar with my ears as what my mother revealed and testified her travel visit to neighboring barangays that was during her childhood days.

Barangay Silab is characterized by it's unruffled and undisturbed place. The tranquility of the place and the richness of it's reserved mother nature, that my beloved elders, relatives and my parents would love to stay in there. I do likewise have the same perception as they are, however, with the demands of time, to get updated with technology, network connectivity is not good in the place. There are some areas wherein acquisition of Internet service connection and or mobile network connectivity has been very rare.

However, some people living there do somehow seems hopeful that in some time, there is an existence of such that could get immediate updates of the latest trending topic and for some emergency cases.

Silab is reached with coconut trees and other kinds of fruit trees, sugarcane - the bread & butter for some locals. Other captivating aspects you can catch with Silab is their reserved mother nature. The wonder of existence of the river channel.

Every time we went to Negros Oriental, we'll always spare a time and the aggressiveness to go down that secretive river. Going down the river channel takes half an hour or more it depends on certain individuals. Down slope trail is not really difficult however, in heading back home is the hardest part in taking up hill slopes trek.
